NanoIntegris Launches IsoSol-S100: A Scalable Semiconductor Ink with the Highest Purity Ever Measured

September 1, 2014, Boisbriand, QC: Raymor-NanoIntegris Breaks New Barrier by Becoming the First Company in the World to Commercialize Ultra-High-Purity, Polymer-Wrapped, Semiconducting Carbon Nanotubes Dispersed in Organic Solvents: IsoSol-S100 TM. This innovative product, offered in powder or solution form, is the first semiconducting single-walled carbon nanotube product on the market with a purity greater than 99.9%.

IsoSol-S100 has the following properties:

  • Can be easily dispersed in a variety of organic solvents such as toluene and xylenes.

  • The polymer-to-nanotube ratio can be adjusted to less than a factor of 4 with nanotube concentrations 10 times higher than in our aqueous dispersions.

  • Demonstrates a storage life 2 times longer than that of aqueous surfactant solutions.

  • Enables the production of printed transistors with On/Off current ratios on the order of 1.8E6 and mobilities around 30 cm²/(Vs).

  • Is perfectly suited for commercial inkjet and aerosol printing.

IsoSol-S100 is created using carbon nanotubes produced by RF-plasma and supplied by Raymor Nanotech on an industrial scale. IsoSol-S100 solutions can be produced in much larger quantities than materials produced using density gradient ultracentrifugation (DGU) or chromatography techniques, and at lower costs. The highly graphitized starting material and the low sonication intensity used during the extraction process minimize damage to the nanotubes, thereby allowing the material to demonstrate high crystallinity and average lengths longer than 2µm.

The patent-pending conjugated polymer separation technique used by Raymor-NanoIntegris was developed by the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) as part of the Printable Electronics Program. It leverages the compatibility of certain conjugated polymers with semiconducting carbon nanotubes and overcomes the production capacity obstacle faced by competing technologies. The IsoSol-S100 material is now available to the academic community and to leading companies working in the fields of printed transistors, nanotube-based electronics, and sensors.

About Raymor Industries Inc.

Raymor Industries Inc. includes Raymor Nanotech, an industrial-scale SWCNT producer, and NanoIntegris Technologies, the world’s leading supplier of high-mobility semiconductor solutions. These solutions include high-purity, sorted single-walled nanotubes (SWNTs) separated by metallic or semiconducting behavior, as well as graphene.
